{nursery gliders}

You learn something new every day. Apparently, I was so active at night as a fetus that my mom had to rock me to sleep even before I was born. This discovery makes me think that we should order our glider sooner rather than later.

Since the baby's glider will be in our bedroom, we need to find a piece of furniture that doesn't look too "baby-ish."

Here are a few of my faves:

Rex Glider by Serena & Lily, $949
{via rosenberry rooms}

Rock-A-Bye Chenelle Glider, $359

Swivel Glider & Ottoman, $749 + 249:

Who knew gliders were so dang expensive? Grr. If you have any suggestions, please share. Evan is in our bedroom painting as we speak, so we'll be ready to buy the perfect glider as early as this weekend. How exciting!

  1. They are expensive! I just posted about our own glider search and we got this beauty from Costco for $249 — http://newlyb.blogspot.com/2010/04/so-it-begins.html

    Unfortunately, the first pic you posted wouldn't seem to load, though it looks like you'd like an upholstered-chair look. Ours is the traditional wood glider with cushions, but has the rocker ottoman to match for one inclusive price.

    Sears also has a decent option for around the same cost that comes in a variety of wood colours and fabrics.

    Good luck!

  2. Thanks for the ideas. I didn't realize Costco sold gliders! We love them and their amazing customer service.

  3. I don't know if you've already bought one, but I would definitely suggest finding one that has a high enough back to support your head/neck. That's the one piece of advice I've gotten from other moms in terms of being able to sit for long periods of time with baby. They all said that boppies and other things could help with any arm support you need, and you can do pillows behind your back if you need to, but you can't add any height to support your head or allow you to lay back and nap.

  4. We went for a La-Z-Boy glider (Rex in chocolate, if you want to look it up) so we could transition it to our Living Room after we're done with babies. It has a lifetime guarantee, even on the fabric if you get the protection plan.

    Last week they had a sale that put it well under some of the ones you posted.
