{24ish weeks}

{toyko, march 28th @ 24 weeks, 2 days}

How your baby's growing:
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts her at just over a pound. Since she's almost a foot long {picture an ear of corn}, she cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon start to plump up. Her brain is also growing quickly now, and her taste buds are continuing to develop. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help her air sacs inflate once she hits the outside world. Her skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

  • How far along? 24ish weeks
  • Total weight gain/loss: Not sure, but the belly is definitely expanding.
  • Sleep: Sleeping in Japan was rough. Jet lag + uncomfortable belly bulge= serious tossing and turning.
  • Best moment this week: Celebrating my v-day {viability day} in Japan.
  • Movement: Lots.
  • Food cravings: Hmm... Chai tea lattes.
  • Gender: Girl :)
  • Labor Signs: Nope.
  • Belly Button in or out? Still in.
  • What I miss: The occasional glass of saké.
  • What I am looking forward to: Our first wedding anniversary.
  • Weekly Wisdom: Compression stockings are amazing.

    {is this what you would call nesting?}

    It's official... I think I am finally "nesting." For the last several days, I haven't been able to stop redecorating our bathroom in my head. It needs to be painted. We desperately need a new shower curtain. Definitely new rugs, too. Preferably new tile, vanity and shower enclosure {wayyy out of our budget right now, but one can dream!}

    Mmhmm. I'm nesting.

    To hold me over until Evan & I get back from Japan {no time for any "optional projects" until then, trust,} here are a couple gorgeous shower curtains haunting my daydreams. I'm in love...

    ♥ bustled shower curtain, $118 ♥

    {22 weeks}

    According the The Bump, our little one is approximately the size of a papaya for the entire 5th month- weeks 22-24. I've also read that she is the size of a spaghetti squash right now, which sounds HUGE!

    Your Baby: Month 5

    Watch what you say -- baby is now able to hear outside noise from down in the womb. Studies show that baby finds gentle music and your own voice most soothing. Nipples are starting to sprout, and that little face is fully formed. And, baby's starting to settle into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. It shouldn't be hard to figure out when -- just pay attention to those kicks as they start and stop.

    Here's a little more info from Baby Center:
    At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. Her lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and she's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath her gums. Her eyes have formed, but her irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers her body and the deep wrinkles on her skin, which she'll sport until she adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside her belly, her pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

    Woah, where did that belly come from?! :o)

    {i think/i hope...}

    I think/seriously hope we have a name for our precious little girl. It's been in my head for weeks, well before we even knew she was a "she." Sign? I think so. We've been trying it out and I absolutely love it. Hopefully Evan warms up to it as much as I have, because my heart is pretty set! Stay tuned... ♥

    {baby, it's cold outside}

    Outside my window... palm trees are swaying in the breeze
    The time is... 1:59pm
    Today I feel... hungry.
    I am thinking... am I off work yet? {no...}
    At the moment, I am thankful... for our healthy, beautiful baby girl.
    I am going... to hurry home and sell our blue BOB stroller, and then build the crib!
    I am wearing... jeans, a cute plaid button-up shirt from Hollister, and Uggs
    I wish... carbs were better for you.
    I am reading... "HypnoBirthing" by Marie Mongan
    I am working on... drinking more h2o.
    I am hoping... for sunshine.
    I am hearing... not much, better turn on some music!
    I bet you didn't know... I've had a girl name stuck in my head for weeks that I hope we get to use!
    One of my favorite... things is cupcakes.

    {it's a girl!}

    Here are a couple snapshots of baby from our big ultrasound on Saturday, where we found out that our little one is a healthy, beautiful little girl!

    Evan & I were shocked by the news, considering we were told she was a he multiple times, but we are so excited and cannot wait to meet her. We both feel like we kinda "knew" the whole time, so it's nice to have confirmation that she is really a she. We've got a lot to think about now... mostly, what do we name her?! Any suggestions? :o)

    {xo, danielle}

    {21 weeks}

    Our little chiquita banana ♥

    {as of 3/6, your hr was 137bpm, you weighed 14.5 ounces, & you were about 12 inches long!}

    Your Baby: Week 21

    Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.

    {all those cute marks on my belly are from falling asleep
    on the couch during "big love." oops!}

    {precious crib set}

    Loving this All Creatures Great & Small crib bedding from Land of Nod. The quilt is pretty cute, but my fav pieces are the crib sheet and argyle bumper. Ooh, and did you know that Land of Nod sells their bedding pieces individually? Lots of baby sites I frequent warn against buying crib sets because, well, you don't really need the quilt, or the bumper... and because they're just so dang expensive. {See my post on the $369 Dwell Studio Owl set I used to be obsessed with!}

    Cute, right?

    Multi Dot Crib Sheet...

    Argyle Bumper...
    {via land of nod, $19-99}

    {that's what she said}

    Note to Self: Add Truly Sanctuary to my list of favorite Etsy shops!

    If you love The Office as much as Evan & I do, you'll absolutely love these onesies, available for $14.99 in all of the standard sizes from 0-3 months all the way up to toodler tees...

    {I already ordered this one. Couldn't resist!}

    {bring on the cute girly things...}

    ...because Jared & Rebecca's baby is officially a GIRL! Yay for cute, girly little shoes and tights and headbands. Here are a couple precious goodies I've bookmarked since they shared their exciting news with us yesterday.

    LOLA Mary Jane Crochet Baby Shoes, $23:
    {via curlybirdy}

    Peaches & Cream Felt Headband, $15:
    {via sprinkles on top}

    Custom Tutus, $20:

    {i can feel you in there!}

    Baby,

    Ever since Wednesday, I swear I can feel you pushing and pressing up against my insides. Not just your kicks, but "you." Every time I bend a certain direction or get into twisty/bendy yoga positions, it's almost like you are in my way. It's such a weird feeling. I hope I'm not squishing you!

    Your dad felt you kick again last night. You're getting pretty strong, aren't you? Lately I've been eating lots of yummy foods- have you noticed? According to all the baby books, you can taste what I'm eating now and are developing food preferences. I hope you're enjoying all the cantaloupe, mango, Indian food, brussel sprouts, and Girl Scout cookies {mmm!} as much as I am.

    Your dad and I are taking an infant CPR class tonight just in case you ever get a hot dog stuck in your throat or something crazy like that. There is so much to learn before your arrival, and we are enjoying every minute of it.

    We can't wait to see you on Saturday at our "big ultrasound." Do me a favor and keep your legs uncrossed for us, mmkay? :P

    Love you!

    {xo, Mom}

    Monday, March 1, 2010

    {20 weeks down, 20 to go!}

    Aww, our little cantaloupe. You're getting big, baby! ♥

    Your Baby: Week 20

    Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, speaking of the diaper situation... baby's genitals are now fully formed!

  • How far along? 20 1/2 weeks {halfway, woohoo!}
  • Total weight gain/loss: 6ish lbs.
  • Sleep: Pretty well, aside from the bathroom trips.
  • Best moment this week: Daddy felt you kick!
  • Movement: Little one is pretty active these days. I think he was Kung Fu fighting last night.
  • Food cravings: Boba tea.
  • Gender: Boy :o)
  • Labor Signs: Nope.
  • Belly Button in or out? Still in.
  • What I miss: Coca cola. Mmm.
  • What I am looking forward to: Our "big ultrasound" is on Saturday! Can't wait to see Baby Sanchez again.

    {heart macaroons}

    I can't believe it's already March! In April, Evan and I will celebrate our first wedding anniversary. So crazy to think we've already been married for a year. It seems like just yesterday that I was stressing out over dress fittings and writing the perfect vows. Where does the time go?

    In memory of eating way too many delicious macaroons whilst honeymooning in Paris, I will be ordering these precious heart-shaped macaroons from Two Heart Bakery in San Francisco. Don't you think they'll make the perfect anniversary treat? Mmm. ♥
